Cruise MR18-06 Leg 3. Cores 2 and 6 pooled. Core 2: 20.0 cm; base did not seal completely due to manganese nodules blocking the stopper; water was lost on deck and some sediment drained; entire contents were collected. Core 6: 28.0 cm; top of sediment was uneven and a manganese nodule was buried in the core, so collected the top 10 cm instead of 5 cm. Sediment resuspended in cold seawater, sieved over 250 um mesh, and live-sorted. Cores remained cold during all steps of processing: 20 min from recovery on deck to storage of sediment sections at 4C. Light-brown/reddish fine mud with foraminifera tests. Data from official multicore report.
