HOLOTYPE

Whole animal, female, sectioned. From description: "...preserved at once in 4% formalin in sea water. The fixation was appropriate for histology but precluded molecular phylogenetic study. We photographed the intact specimen and then prepared it as 20-mm serial paraffin sections stained with haematoxylin-eosin-toluidine blue." Published collection site: "The holotype (an adult female) was discovered on 27 July 2002, living at a depth of 1,901m in the northeastern Pacific (42.5º N, 126.7º W)"; ROVs Tiburon and Bathysaurus are acknowledged. Date matched to dive T453 (start 7/26/02 16:15; end 7/27/02 4:13), which is the only ROV Tiburon dive occurring on 27 July 2002.
