WF2 site details from McClain et al. 2019. Carcass A2, Alligator mississippiensis, from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Alligator Management Program (one of three individuals, LDWF Tags 898309, 898310, 898321). Deployed using the Oceaneering ROV Global Explorer aboard the R/V Pelican at Site 2, northern Gulf of Mexico continental slope, on 20 February 2019 at 17:43. Observed and Osedax collected on 12 April 2019 at 17:054, 51 days post deployment; "At this time, the food fall was comprised of bones with all soft tissues completely absent." (McClain et al. 2019). Alligator length 175.3 cm, estimated mass 19.5 kg.
